Addendum accord de Bibwa: Tony Mwaba announces improved living conditions for standing and sitting teachers from April 2023

  In an official statement signed on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, Tony Mwaba Kazadi, Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), announced, among other things, an adjustment to the payroll for April 2023. These measures to improve conditions for both standing and seated teachers are: 1. The adjustment of the free education bonus to 50,000 Congolese francs (FC) per teacher for a total of 375,333 teachers. 2. The hiring of 682 non-university (N.U.) teachers at the preschool level 3. Funding for 5,535 non-unionized (N.U.) teachers at the primary level 4. Funding for 10,002 non-unionized (N.U.) teachers at the secondary level 5. Funding for 2,200 inspectors from the 2018 cohort 6. The allocation and payment of travel expenses to inspection pools 7. Payment for the grade conversion of 567,081 career teachers 8. The phased payment of end-of-career allowances to 452 teachers eligible for retirement; 9. The payment of operating expenses to 3,542 primary schools that have undergone structural changes; 10. The payment of operating expenses to 656 administrative offices. 11. The readjustment of the remote area allowance for 560,159 teachers in the territories; ; As a reminder, these government decisions fall within the framework of the addendum to the Bibwa Memorandum of Understanding signed with the EPST union federation. The Minister of EPST took this opportunity to invite the educational community to support the efforts undertaken by the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, to consolidate and ensure the long-term sustainability of free public primary education.
