North - Kivu 1: Proved Luc Gbaweza satisfied with the assessment of first-quarter activities in his jurisdiction
The director of the North Kivu 1 educational province, Luc Gbaweza, presided over a meeting to evaluate the activities of the first quarter of the 2023–2024 school year within his administrative unit.
The meeting room of the Provincial Directorate of EPST North Kivu 1 served as the venue for this session, which brought together the heads of subdivisions (Goma, Himbi, Karisimbi 1 and 2, Nyiragongo, Kibumba, Rutshuru 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5), provincial coordinators of charter schools, representatives of associations of accredited private school promoters (CEPACO and ASSONEPA), representatives of parent-teacher associations (ANAPECO, APEC, AREP, and APECI), as well as division heads from the provincial directorate.
This assessment of school activities focused on the first three pillars of the Sectoral Strategy for Education and Training (SSEF 2016–2025). Namely, improving access and equity, enhancing the quality and relevance of the education system, and strengthening governance and accountability.
Satisfied with the significant progress made within his administrative unit, Provincial Education Director Luc Gbaweza Kabongo congratulated the heads of educational subdivisions while encouraging them to do even better to ensure that Congolese children are placed at the center of all educational efforts, regardless of the war conditions currently affecting North Kivu Province.
"War cannot stop education"
Proved Luc Gbaweza Kabongo stated that war does not stop education.
He further noted that the quarterly reports for this academic year presented by the sub-proveds allow them to regularly assess the education system and measure its performance.
"With regard specifically to the reports submitted to us by the heads of subdivisions, our guiding principles are: to strengthen training in statistical data management at all levels of education, to develop a quality education system, and to empower education stakeholders in the monitoring and evaluation of the PAO...," he said.
According to him, since Axis 3 of the sectoral strategy is a cornerstone of quality school governance, it is imperative to reassess its management and ensure decentralized management for the benefit of students.
