Astrid Nyambuyi, director of the Kinshasa/Mont-Mamba educational province, launched the Annual Performance Review (APR) conference last Tuesday.

Focused this year on the theme: "Improving the quality of education to stimulate socio-economic development," these proceedings will evaluate the actions carried out during the past calendar year in order to better prepare for the upcoming school year.

On the first day, participants evaluated the mandate and presented an overview of the state of the educational province across all departments, including the provincial division, the inspectorate, DINACOPE, and others.

The provincial minister of education, Jeannot Canon, who was present at the ceremony, encouraged participants to actively engage in the evaluation process to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the education system in this part of Kinshasa.

"I have come to learn about the progress of the RAP in your area. I wish you a successful meeting. I believe this meeting will result in positive reports, which I look forward to presenting to the Governor of Kinshasa. I would like to emphasize three points: access, quality, and governance. These are the areas we must focus on to ensure the sustainability of tomorrow’s schools,” he stressed.

Education inspectors, sub-provincial officials, and union representatives will contribute their expertise and perspectives on the challenges facing the sector. Their participation will enable the discussion of critical education-related issues in the province while identifying unresolved problems from the previous school year to address them during the 2024–2025 school year, thereby improving teaching conditions and quality.

Furthermore, several other topics will be addressed during these sessions, including student performance, teacher training, and school infrastructure. Speakers will share data and analyses to better understand current challenges and will propose tailored solutions in the coming days to ensure expectations are met as part of consolidating the achievements of the first term of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

It should be noted that the results of this RAP will be used to develop concrete action plans and recommendations aimed at optimizing educational practices. Recommendations will be presented at the annual national performance review scheduled for the coming days.
