The recent rise in the water level of the Congo River has caused significant property damage in the city of Kinshasa. Among the buildings affected by the flooding, some schools were not spared. In light of this, the director of the Kinshasa-Lukunga educational province, Mr. Jean Pierre Yoy Bokete, conducted an inspection tour on Monday, January 22, to assess the school infrastructure within his jurisdiction. Following this inspection, Mr. Jean Pierre Yoy suggested the immediate relocation of certain schools affected by this disaster. To this end, he promised to call upon educational partners to identify appropriate measures. Ultimately, he called on the government to provide the necessary resources for the construction of new schools. It should be noted that several neighborhoods located along the riverbank have been affected by flooding caused by the rising waters of the Congo River. Some images that have gone viral online show buildings submerged under more than 10 meters of water. According to the Régie des voies fluviales (RVF), the water levels are already beginning to recede. Michaëlla Kiasungwa and Bénie Matiti
