According to information verified by the Central Coordination Office (BCECO), 24 schools have already been handed over as part of the Local Development Program for 145 Territories (PDL 145 T) since the program’s launch in late 2022. The most recently constructed school is the Tshimona Bitoke School. It was accepted by the BCECO on July 10, 2023. It is located in the province of Kasaï Central, in the territory of Kazumba. This technical acceptance by the BCECO brings the number of public schools in various provinces one step closer to the total of 1,023 schools planned under this Congolese government program. It should be noted that the provinces of Ituri and Lomami are at the top of the list, with five schools built in each. In contrast, the provinces of Kasaï Central and Lualaba are at the bottom of the list, with only one school each so far. As a reminder, this program aims, among other things, to improve the living conditions of students. It is estimated to cost a total of approximately 1.6 billion U.S. dollars. It consists of empowering 145 territories to develop infrastructure in the DRC. Célestin Zeula
