Students have just returned to school after a two-week New Year’s holiday break. For this return to school on January 8, 2024, students will have a total of 56 school days; this marks the second term of the school year in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It will run from Monday, January 8, to Wednesday, March 27, 2024. This term comprises the third and fourth periods of the current school year. During these two periods, the school calendar includes classes from Monday, January 8, to Saturday, February 24, 2024, and a two-day break on Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17, 2024. Classes for the fourth term will then resume on February 19. Exams for this term will take place from Wednesday, March 13, to Wednesday, March 20. Results will be announced on March 27. Thus, the period from Thursday, March 28, to Friday, April 5, will mark the second-term break, with classes resuming for the third term on Monday, April 8, 2024. As a reminder, the 2023–2024 school year began in the first week of last September, following a two-month break that started on July 2. This adherence to the school calendar and the traditional start and end dates for classes in the DRC is the result of significant efforts by the Ministry of Education, Primary and Secondary Education (EPST), supported by the courageous leadership and enlightened policies of the Congolese government.
