The annual performance review concluded on a positive note in the Haut-Katanga educational province, led by Director Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend, with recommendations made to strengthen the education system in that jurisdiction.
Over the course of three days, participants evaluated the sub-sector’s performance using operational action plans. They analyzed and updated the school map based on geographic, social, and statistical data.
They also assessed the implementation of reforms, identified challenges to be addressed, and finally developed the plan for the 2024–2025 school year. Recommendations were also formulated.
These recommendations are contained in a report on the proceedings of the conference, read at the closing of the meeting on Wednesday, August 7, by the provincial vice president of the National Association of Accredited Private Schools (ASSONEPA).
In his closing remarks, Provincial Superintendent Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend congratulated the participants on these recommendations, which will strengthen the educational system within his jurisdiction to boost socio-economic development, as desired by Minister Raïssa Malu.
Furthermore, “the various resolutions and recommendations presented to us constitute a solid foundation for the development of a proactive, rather than reactive, policy for our sub-sector,” stated Proved Joseph Mwinkeu.
Furthermore, Joseph Mwinkeu emphasized the urgent need for all stakeholders to adhere to the operational action plan for the 2024-2025 school year.
"It is essential for each of us to remember that the planning for next year, which will begin soon, concerns us all. Let us therefore rise to this challenge together with determination. Let us challenge ourselves to meet this standard by striving to excel, thereby contributing to the improvement of our provincial education system and achieving effective results for the 2024-2025 school year, so that we maintain our leading position as one of the top provinces in education in the DRC—and for that, there is no time to waste," he emphasized.
Present at this closing ceremony, the provincial minister in charge of Education, Georges Kadinga Mulundule, noted with satisfaction that the objectives set for this meeting had been achieved.
In his remarks, he focused on the practical measures that will ensure a smooth start to the 2024-2025 school year.
"To ensure a smooth start to the 2024-2025 school year, scheduled for Monday, August 2, throughout the province of Haut-Katanga, you should know that parents are free to purchase school supplies, uniforms, and physical education attire at the market of their choice. School fees must be paid in the national currency (Congolese francs). Enrollment is free and must be completed on the dates set by the 2024-2025 school calendar," he emphasized.
He also clarified that no entrance exams are required for new students and no re-enrollment fees may be charged to returning students.
"Additionally, all fourth-year high school students must be up to date with the fees related to registration for the State Exam by October 30, 2024, in accordance with Circular No. 10.6/4152/CAB/MIN/H.KAT/2024 dated August 6, 2024, addressed to the Provincial Director of National Education and New Citizenship," he added.
The RAP is an annual event held during the summer break at various levels (school, sub-provincial, provincial, and national) to review the previous school year and prepare for the next.
