The Annual Performance Review (APR) concluded on Saturday, August 5, in the Kinshasa/Mont-Amba educational province. A number of recommendations were made following three days of meetings, from August 3 to 5. These include a ban on schools operating without proper authorization from the relevant ministerial authority. “All schools planning to open their doors this coming year must have their official authorizations; there are also strategies to be implemented for schools that have resisted anti-values,” stated Astrid Nambuyi, director of the Kinshasa/Mont-Amba Educational Province (Proved). The Chief Provincial Inspector (IPP), Vital, for his part, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and providing training for school principals, academic directors, educational advisors, and teachers in improving the quality of education and combating anti-values. “Anyone who is out of place, we try to remove, and anyone who isn’t giving their best, we set aside. The time is past for complaining that children aren’t smart. The problem lies with those we need to address within a school—the teacher, the school principal, or the academic director,” he said. This year’s theme is “Improving the Quality of Education through Good Governance and Accountability,” and the Annual Performance Review is being held to chart the course for the coming school year.
