Tony Mwaba, Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), met on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with a delegation led by Lami Nzunzu José, the Head of State’s advisor on education. The focus of their discussions was the digitization of education.
The advisor to the Head of State indicated that this project involves the installation of local servers and tablets capable of operating both offline and online, with the goal of moving toward the digitization of education—the only way to adapt learning to the digital age.
It is no surprise that the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, who is leading this sub-sector of education through various reforms aimed at improving the quality of education in particular, is fully committed to this initiative.
This system, once implemented, will further facilitate communication between students, teachers, parents, and officials at the Ministry of EPST.
It will allow school principals to track the progress of quarterly lessons across different grade levels and by class.
Through this system, even the school inspector’s work will be simplified, as they will be able to easily analyze the school’s performance and help improve it.
Pleased with this project, Professor Tony Mwaba did not hesitate to note that it supports the Free Primary Education initiative, one of the challenges of which is improving the quality of education, which has been deteriorating for decades.
According to Emmanuel Diaka Niania, Head of the Information Division at DINACOPE, this system will allow every teacher, student, or parent to have an authenticated account to monitor everything at the school, including students’ rapid and independent learning, teacher professional development, and platform management.
It should be noted that this delegation, led by an advisor to President Félix Tshisekedi, recently undertook a mission to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, to undergo training on capacity building in information systems, with the aim of understanding the ALEF/Education Application System for teaching via computer-based tools.
