The Djugu 2 EPST sub-division, in collaboration with the Central Office of the Rethy Rural Health Zone, has decided to suspend school activities in nine schools from Tuesday, February 20, to Thursday, February 22, 2024. This decision was announced to protect children from the plague outbreak that has been observed in recent days in a number of hospitals in the area. The schools affected include the Kpadroma, Shun, Apolo, Gola, Baidjo, Bwa, Mont-Bleu, and Rethy preschools and elementary schools. “It is recommended that the administrators of the aforementioned schools organize extensive maintenance work in their schools as soon as school activities resume, that is, on Friday, February 23, 2024. And for the community at large, everyone is urged to maintain cleanliness inside their homes and on their property,” reads a statement signed by the zone’s chief medical officer, Dr. Jean de Dieu. According to the same document, Kpadroma Primary School has recorded many positive cases of the plague. During these three days, the Central Office of the Rethy Health Zone has promised to visit only Kpadroma Primary School to spray the classrooms. Ouriel Mangitukwa
