The third edition of the 2024 Preschool Festival was successfully held on Saturday, August 10, at Collège Notre Dame du Congo in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The event was attended by preschool educators and inspectors. The inspectors had come from all the educational provinces of the DRC, and some from Congo-Brazzaville.
Under the patronage of the Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, this festival was organized by the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP-DRC) in collaboration with the Agency for the Promotion of Education (APE).
The president of OMEP-DRC, Michel Otto, emphasized the importance of prioritizing early childhood education in the country, highlighting that the lack of such prioritization is at the root of the DRC’s current problems.
In his view, early childhood education must be managed by qualified staff, and teachers and kindergarten inspectors must receive ongoing training; this is why he called for the effective establishment of the Task Force on Early Childhood Education, as decided at the first symposium.
Present at the event, the representative of the Secretary General of National Education praised the organization of the celebration and reiterated the ministry’s support for the promotion of preschool education in the DRC.
This celebration, marked by parades and certificate presentations, concluded the preliminary symposium aimed at promoting preschool education in the DRC, held August 8–9 at the Béatrice Hotel in Kinshasa.
