As part of the EFFICACE Project, a training session was held from July 8 to 12, 2025, in Tshikapa (Kasaï Province), bringing together some thirty participants from local media outlets and the communications departments of educational institutions. Organized by UNESCO, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education through the DGC-EDUNC, RT.EDUC, and DIFOR-BG, this workshop aimed to build the capacity of communication professionals and journalists to better promote the teaching profession. Over the course of five days, participants were trained in the fundamentals of information and communication sciences, communication techniques for development, as well as radio genres and audio content production. Practical sessions allowed journalists to apply these skills to the coverage of educational issues. The event was opened and closed by the Provincial Minister of Education, Mr. Frédéric Piema, representing the government of Kasaï. This mission was led by UNESCO’s Communications Officer, Ms. Henriette Odia. This capacity-building initiative is the pilot phase of the EFFICACE project’s awareness-raising strategy, which aims in particular to promote the teaching profession and girls’ enrollment in school by encouraging them to pursue a career in teaching.
