On this occasion, the Congolese NBA star outlined the initiatives currently underway and those already completed by his foundation in the education sector to support Congolese youth.
Among other things, he highlighted the construction of a modern school in Lubumbashi, in the province of Haut-Katanga, enabling young talents identified through scouting to pursue a comprehensive academic program.
Minister Raïssa Malu, who encouraged the Congolese athlete, emphasized above all the imperative to improve local conditions for children in schools.
She also called on her guest to discourage the brain drain and the exploitation of talent abroad to the detriment of the homeland.
She called on the Bismack Biyombo Foundation to encourage recipients of scholarships abroad to also consider investing, getting involved, or even returning to the country once their university studies are completed, in order to contribute to the development of the DRC.
For his part, Bismack Biyombo requested the support of the Minister of National Education for his foundation, which works to increase access to education for children with disabilities as well as for young girls.
“I commend the Minister of State’s commitment to promoting holistic education for children, and ask that she support the Foundation’s efforts to include girls and children with disabilities,” he said.It is worth noting that Congolese basketball player Bismack Biyombo, who plays in the United States, has returned to the country for the 11th edition of the basketball camp bearing his name.
