The General Secretariat for Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST) is mobilizing stakeholders in this subsector to ensure the complete success of the reform initiated by the ministry, which focuses on the competitive recruitment of teachers and primary school principals. In a press release signed on behalf of the Acting Secretary General, Liyandja Lokese Ludovic, Director-General of the Department, stated that this merit-based system for recruiting teachers and promoting primary school principals aims to improve access to and the quality of education and to strengthen the governance of the Congolese education system. This commitment by Minister Tony Mwaba, aimed at effectively sustaining the policy of free primary education enacted in 2019, is part of the 2016-2025 Sectoral Strategy for Education and Training (SSEF). “I therefore invite all stakeholders operating in our EPST sub-sector to mobilize with their relevant contributions and lend us a hand to ensure the success of this important reform for the benefit of Congolese children, who are the future of our nation,” he wrote. It should be noted that the pilot phase of this recruitment process involves three pilot provinces: Kinshasa, Kongo Central, and Kasaï Central. Ivan Honoré Mudiangombé
