The 2023 State Exams began at 8:00 a.m. at Mokengeli Middle School on Monday, June 26, 2023. The event began with the national anthem, followed by a speech from the exam center director, who reminded students of the instructions and guidelines for taking the exam. “Candidates are strictly prohibited from entering exam rooms with cell phones; there must be no collaboration or cheating during the exam. Any act contrary to these guidelines will be considered a violation of exam integrity and will result in the cancellation of the exam,” he told the candidates. At the end of this first day of exams, which focused on general knowledge, the various candidates interviewed expressed great optimism. "When I received my exam paper, I was so stressed, but once I focused on the lessons we’d already covered in class, I found my footing and did well on the exam. I’m absolutely certain that even though it’s the first day, I’ll get better results in the end," said Alem Mabana from the 6th-grade Latin and Philosophy track at the Mokengeli complex. On the other hand, Kabuya Mukuna Junior from the General Education program said he relied on his “personal” knowledge to get through it. “I managed because I relied more on the knowledge I acquired at school and through my previous research. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t very difficult either—I did very well,” he said. The exam lasted four hours. Note that these certification exams continue on Tuesday. Candidates will take the science exams. Célestin Zeula
