Parents of students in North Kivu will not have to pay a single cent to have their children take this year’s State Exam. This is because the central government has already released funds to cover the exam fees for all students in this part of the country. It was during a press conference held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, that the military governor’s advisor, Prisca Luanda, announced this news, while specifying that parents who had already paid will be reimbursed. “This is a message of relief from the provincial authorities because, as you know, not only is primary school free, but also at the 8th grade level of basic education, we have an exam called Tenasosp (National Academic and Vocational Orientation Test), which will also be covered by the central government, as well as the off-session exam and the regular session of the State Exam. So children and parents in North Kivu can rest assured regarding this matter,” said Ms. Prisca Luanda Kamala. It should be noted that this is the fulfillment of a commitment made by the Minister of EPST, Tony Mwaba, following a meeting with the caucus of national deputies and the provincial Minister of Education of North Kivu a few days ago. As a reminder, the off-session State Exam begins on May 6 throughout the country in accordance with the school calendar, that is, in about two weeks. Ouriel MANGITUKWA
