Since Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the Acting Secretary General for National Education and New Citizenship, Mathieu Mukenge, accompanied by Alexis Yoka, Director-General of DIFORE-BG, has been participating in a regional forum on the transformation of education systems in Central Africa, being held in Douala, Cameroon. Organized by UNESCO’s Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa, this meeting is part of the follow-up to the recommendations of the summit on the transformation of education held in 2022 in New York, five years before the 2030 Agenda for Education deadline. The forum has three specific objectives: 1. Strengthen cooperation among African countries to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 by 2030. 2. Strengthen advocacy and awareness-raising regarding the central and catalytic role of teachers in transforming education. 3. Explore effective and innovative approaches to address the quantitative and qualitative shortage of teachers and ensure their professional development. This forum brings together policymakers and senior ministry officials responsible for education and training from various countries. It serves as a platform for the exchange of experiences and best practices among these Central African countries, with the aim of transforming their education systems and accelerating progress toward the SDG 4 targets. The event began on May 21 and will continue through May 24, 2025, for a total duration of four days. Willy Kambulu
