During his visit to the Wema Center, located in the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province, the Deputy Minister of National Education and New Citizenship noted the participation of two visually impaired candidates. Pleased with this development, the deputy minister of national education stated that this is the first time he has seen visually impaired candidates receive the same exam questions as all other candidates. At the center, these two candidates took the exam using Braille. “This is the group of people on whom President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi is pinning his hopes for the substantial, radical transformation of the DRC in the coming years,” he suggested. To the female candidates present at the center, he emphasized the importance of education for securing their future. “There is no gender when it comes to learning; everyone is given the same opportunity. Girls must strive to emulate the boys, especially since they are the majority in the testing centers. May all girls understand that tomorrow’s future depends on school; if they take their studies seriously, they will compete with the same chance of success as their male peers.” On Thursday, June 27, the regular session of the 2024 State Exam concluded throughout the DRC.
