“These realities are known and understood by the Government,” stated Raissa Malu. The teachers’ demands, the minister affirmed, are legitimate and deserve to be heard. Significant efforts have already been made, notably through the Bibwa agreements, whose gradual implementation has achieved a 70% fulfillment rate of commitments, compared to just 29% a few months ago. The payment of back bonuses, improved salary conditions, and the recruitment of new teachers are all measures that demonstrate the Government’s commitment to meeting teachers’ expectations. However, the Minister also acknowledged that these efforts, while commendable, are not yet sufficient to fully alleviate the daily hardships faced by teachers.
“You deserve greater recognition and better conditions,” she stated, noting the major economic and social constraints facing the country, exacerbated by armed conflicts in the east.In this difficult context, Ms. Raïssa Malu called for patience and trust.
“The government is sparing no effort to improve your conditions,” she assured them. For Minister Malu, the path to quality education is long, but achievable through collective commitment. The recently adopted Five-Year Plan places teachers at the heart of the transformation of the education system, with a particular focus on continuing education, improving working conditions, and highlighting the fundamental role of teachers in society. In summary, this message from the Minister of State, Minister of EDU-NC, is a call for unity and determination. Together, with the support of teachers, the Government aspires to build a better future for education in the DRC, where every teacher will be recognized and valued for their essential role in shaping future generations.
