The Chief Provincial Inspector of the Kasaï 1 Educational Province, Léonard Malamba Kasongo, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth resumption of school activities within his jurisdiction. In an interview with the DGC EPST on Tuesday, September 9, the IPP confirmed that he had visited 16 elementary schools, 25 secondary schools, and 5 preschools to assess the situation, “and everywhere there were enough students.” “We received a false statement reporting that classes would resume on January 15, 2024; suddenly, we received a denial from our supervising minister, so we went out into the field, undertook several visits, and issued statements. Yesterday we made the rounds and found that students had turned out in large numbers; teachers and administrative staff were all present, and we thanked the parents for fulfilling their duty,” said IPP Leonard Malamba. Seizing the opportunity, he encouraged school principals to strictly follow and enforce the instructions from higher authorities to ensure the quality of education. “I advised them to get to work in accordance with the recommendations from higher authorities; I asked parents to send their children to school and not to follow rumors circulating in the community; and I asked teachers to prepare their lessons to ensure they stay on track with their curriculum plans,” he said. As a reminder, classes resumed on Monday, January 8, across the entire country, in accordance with the 2023–2024 school calendar. Willy Kambulu
