The acting governor of the province of Kasai Oriental, Ms. Julie Kalenga, inaugurated the new building of the Mobutu 2 Institute on Monday, February 5, 2024. The institute is located in the Muya district of the city of Mbuji Mayi in Kasai Oriental. Several dignitaries attended the ceremony, including educational authorities (PROVED and IPP), members of the provincial government, members of the provincial security committee, and other special guests. The provincial authority stated that the construction of this building is part of the vision of Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to ensure improved learning conditions for students. Julie Kalenga made an impassioned appeal to school authorities, parents, and students to use this facility responsibly so that it may always remain at the service of the Congolese elite. As the primary beneficiary of this new building, the director of the Kasaï Oriental 1 educational province, Symphorien Kapita Mpongo, on behalf of the staff in his sector, thanked the provincial authorities for this project, which has restored the image of this school, whose building was in a state of severe disrepair. Proved Kapita took the opportunity to ask the provincial authorities to personally intervene to reclaim part of the schoolyard that had been appropriated by private individuals, in order to restore the school’s rights. This new building, constructed by the SADI company to modern standards, includes six classrooms, an office, and a restroom facility. Ivan Honoré Mudiangombé
