"Scientific Discovery, Hands-On Experience" is the theme of a workshop to be held from February 2 to February 3, 2024, at the Cardinal Malula School Complex, located in the municipality of Limete. This training is sponsored by the National Service for Preschool Teacher Training in collaboration with OMEP-DRC and APE, and is intended for future preschool educators. The announcement was made by the president of this organization in the DRC, Otto Michel, during an interview with the DGC-EPST on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. This series of continuing education programs aims to adequately equip these future preschool educators so they can effectively pass on the knowledge they have acquired to young children, as well as to enhance the image of educators to foster greater awareness of their teaching methods. According to Michel Otto, only inspectors, school principals, teachers, and center managers are qualified as trainers at the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education. He notes that a trainer is someone who possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to pass on to others. "But they must also be able to read, write, and speak in order to be capable of standing before learners," adds the president of OMEP-DRC. An inspector by profession and one of the trainers at this conference, Michel Otto also drew attention to the fact that the DRC currently has no training center for early childhood education trainers. According to this early childhood expert, there is a need to find potential solutions to address the precarious situation of early childhood educators within the sub-sector. He recommends that this will require mobilizing various available resources and prioritizing issues related to early childhood. It should be noted that in the DRC, preschool education is provided through three types of institutions. These are nursery schools, pre-primary classes, and community early learning centers. In 2019/20, the country had 8,250 preschool institutions serving 602,526 children. Deleine Diazolakana and Marie France Pala
