The recruitment exam for teachers and the promotion of school principals was launched on Tuesday, March 5, in the Ngaliema 1 sub-division of the Lukunga educational province in Kinshasa. Twenty-eight candidates took part in this exam, organized by the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education through the Human Resources Directorate. The exam was held on the campus of the Ngaliema Technical and Vocational Institute. Benjamin Lokange, the deputy head of Ngaliema 1, who launched the competition, stated that this new reform implemented in the EPST sub-sector is based on merit and transparency. He urged the candidates to give their best to succeed in the exams. "We must live by our merits; that is, we must banish all anti-values, particularly superficial knowledge. Everyone must earn their place in our educational system," said Benjamin Lokange. Ms. Ndaya Lucie, an expert at the HR Department and one of the competition supervisors, welcomed the significant participation of women in this merit-based recruitment competition. “I am fully satisfied because the exam is going very well, and I commend the significant participation of women in this exam. This is one of the most important points also advocated by the new recruitment system; there must be many more female teachers,” stated this education expert. It should be noted that this competition is being held in various subdivisions of Kinshasa, Central Kasai, and Central Kongo. This new reform of the EPST requires that teachers be recruited through competitive examinations. It is being implemented by the Human Resources Department with the support of PERSE (Project for Equity and Strengthening of the Education System) Paola Mawete
