The chief inspectors for primary and secondary education, the division heads (sub-provincial directors), and school principals from the Kinshasa-Plateau Educational Province held a meeting on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Marie Immaculée Middle School in the N’sele district of Kinshasa. Led by the provincial director of this educational province, Clément Mukanya, discussions centered on the issue of consolidating and ensuring the long-term viability of free primary education, as well as the fight against anti-values in this educational province. One such negative practice, according to Clément Mukanya, is the issuance of fake report cards to students, provided by parallel networks in violation of official instructions on the matter. He appealed to everyone’s conscience to obtain genuine report cards issued by the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), which cost 1,000 FC. Clément Mukanya took the opportunity to commend the work done by the leadership, particularly Minister Tony Mwaba, Secretary General Christine Nepa-Nepa, and Inspector General Odia Musungay Kabeya, for their efforts in reforming the Congolese education system. For his part, the Provincial Chief Inspector (IPP), Noël Ngilengo, emphasized adherence to the school calendar, particularly the various dates for certification exams and the official fee. He also pledged to ensure compliance with official instructions. This meeting also served as a forum to discuss the recommendations of the National Performance Review (RAP), which took place from August 22 to 24 in Kinshasa, with all key stakeholders in the Public Education System (EPST). It should be noted that this first meeting of the year comes a few weeks after Minister Tony Mwaba visited this educational province for a session aimed at boosting the morale of educational staff, as part of the fight against anti-values.
