The capacity-building workshop for educators on innovative new teaching methods for French and English, which began on Tuesday, March 19, concluded on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Mwene Ditu, in the Lomami 2 educational province. According to the provincial chief inspector, Godefroid Katalayi, the objective of this training was to equip French and English teachers and inspectors with these new methods in order to update them for high-quality, ongoing professional development for both teachers and students. The training also aimed to foster a sense of professional responsibility among teachers and inspectors in the performance of their duties. Muller Mulenda Keba-Keba, Provincial Director of the Lomami 2 Educational Province, paid tribute to the President of the Republic and the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education for their commitment to improving teachers’ working conditions to ensure higher-quality education. This training, he noted, is a measure to support the quality of education, as it has enabled participants to strengthen their skills in key concepts within the two disciplines of French and English. “I further urge you to realize that it is in your best interest to strive—until proven otherwise—to improve the quality of education in accordance with your threefold mission: to supervise, train, and evaluate. We urge you not to let the methodological and strategic insights gained from this training go to waste,” he urged the participants. After thanking the organizers of this training session, the participants committed to teaching and inspecting in accordance with the guidelines received from other educational stakeholders.
