Kinshasa—The Pullman Grand Hotel in Kinshasa hosted a ceremony of historic significance for the future of the Congolese education system. In a solemn ceremony, national authorities and international partners formally approved the policy and regulatory frameworks for the training of teachers for the first six years of basic education.

The proceedings were opened by the Secretary General for National Education and New Citizenship, Alexis Yoka, who emphasized the importance of this milestone in the professionalization of teachers and the enhancement of educational quality.

UNESCO’s Resident Representative in the DRC, Dr. Isaias Barreto da Rosa, then took the floor. In a message marked by gratitude, he commended the rigor of the process and the exemplary mobilization of national teams and technical partners, emphasizing that this validation confers full and complete legitimacy on the documents.

The ceremony continued with a technical presentation of the instruments by the acting director of DIFOR-BG and SERNAFOR, who detailed the content and scope of the documents.

In her address, the minister noted that while free education had opened the doors to school, these instruments transform that access into a promise of real success. She urged stakeholders to implement them immediately and rigorously, asserting that the excellence of the education system is measured in the classrooms, not just on paper.

The ceremony concluded on a note of unity and collective commitment. With this validation, the Congolese school system takes a new step forward: one where quality becomes the standard, and where education is confirmed as the foundation of the nation and the future of its children.

This milestone is part of the EFFICACE project, implemented by UNESCO and funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) through the French Development Agency (AFD).
