The handover ceremony between Alexis Yoka and Juvénal Sanga Kaubo, acting Secretary-General and incoming Secretary-General, respectively, of the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC), was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in Kinshasa.

The event brought together several delegations, including those from the Ministry of Civil Service, labor unions, department heads, as well as technical and financial partners in the sector.

In his remarks, the new Secretary General, Mr. Juvénal Sanga Kaubo, announced that, upon taking office, he would soon organize consultation meetings with all stakeholders to define the direction and priorities of his term.

“I thank the union delegation, the directors, and the technical and financial partners, from whom I expect a great deal. We will work together. A schedule will be established to strengthen communication and collaboration,” he stated.

For his part, Mr. Alexis Yoka expressed his full willingness to support his successor in carrying out his new duties, while praising the expertise of the existing teams.

“We will provide you with our support and full cooperation. You will be working with departments that possess proven expertise, which will facilitate the accomplishment of your missions. Rest assured of our support,” he affirmed.

As a reminder, Mr. Juvénal Sanga Kaubo was appointed Secretary General of National Education and New Citizenship by decree of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Civil Service, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lihau, made public on Thursday, January 28, 2026.

He succeeds Ms. Christine Nepa Nepa, who retired last year after more than four years at the helm of the ministry’s administration, including seventeen months in an interim capacity.
