After a month of inactivity, classes finally resumed on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Lac Vert Primary School and Institute in the North Kivu 1 educational province. The advisor to the governor of North Kivu in charge of education and the provincial EPST team led by Director Luc Baweza visited the school to verify that classes had indeed resumed, following the occupation of classrooms by war-displaced persons in this part of the country. “It was urgent that the displaced people vacate the classrooms so that the children could continue their education, which is why we conducted this visit this morning to ensure, on the one hand, that the classrooms have been vacated and, on the other hand, to confirm that classes have resumed normally,” said the governor’s advisor, Prisca Luanda. A source of satisfaction for Proved Luc Baweza. “It is a source of satisfaction for me to see the students returning to class, as it was distressing to see that they were forced to stay home because the classrooms were occupied. For now, we can say that school has resumed normally,” he said with relief. As a reminder, school activities had been suspended at this school since February 12, 2024, following the occupation of classrooms by war refugees. Cheta Birhashwirwa
