In an effort to ensure the continued provision of free primary education in North Kivu Province, at least 15 schools were inaugurated last Saturday in Goma and in Nyiragongo Territory, both located in North Kivu Province.
The military governor of North Kivu, Constant Ndima, who presided over the ceremony, praised this achievement, which he said contributes to improving the quality of education in the province.
“These basic facilities actively support free basic education, while providing our teachers and children with adequate workspaces that will help improve the quality of education in our province,” he said.
He therefore called on school administrators, parent committees, students, and teachers to make good use of them.
These facilities are among the achievements of the DRC Social Fund. Its field coordinator in North Kivu, Adellar Mukishi–Masudi, expressed satisfaction with these projects, which will increase access to classrooms.
“With the major reform of free primary education, we are very pleased to see that we will be able to increase and improve access to all our classrooms,” he said.
According to the DRC Social Fund, these projects—financed by the World Bank and carried out under the Stabilization and Peace in Eastern DRC (STEP) project—are currently underway in other parts of the province, particularly in the cities of Beni and Butembo.
