Raïssa Malu, Minister of State for National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC), presided over the institutional validation ceremony for the national policy on continuing education for secondary school teachers on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Funded by the World Bank, this event is part of the Project to Improve Learning in Francophone Africa (PAAF). It is a structured policy aimed at sustainably strengthening the pedagogical skills of secondary school teachers.
In her remarks, Alice Ntumba Mutambayi, Deputy Coordinator of the PAAF project, praised the significant progress represented by this process.
“Several tools made available to teachers will serve to ensure a process of evaluation and continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning, in order to support the implementation of this public policy,” she stated.
It should be noted that the PAAF project is structured around several priority areas, including:
- improving access to quality education, particularly for girls
- creating safe and appropriate learning environments
- increasing female participation in education
- strengthening teachers’ pedagogical skills
- revising curricula, textbooks, and teaching materials
- Encouraging civic engagement in inclusive educational settings
Continuing teacher training is thus one of the central pillars of this project, ensuring that teachers adapt to new pedagogical approaches.
The ceremony concluded with the official presentation of the continuing education manual to the relevant authority, marking a key step toward a more equitable, inclusive, and effective education system.
