The Central Coordination Office (BCECO) handed over two new schools to the North Kivu II Educational Province on October 26, 2023. The schools are Kayese and Manga Elementary Schools, located in the Kitsombiro EPST sub-division within Lubero territory. The director of the North Kivu 2 educational province, Proved Salumu Tamboli Salomon, handed over the keys to these new buildings to the provincial deputy director, who in turn handed them over to the principals of these two new schools. One after another, the principals pledged to protect this hard-won asset and pass it on to future generations. At Manga Primary School, the students cheered with joy in honor of the officials who had come to deliver this new, welcoming learning environment. One of the students, in a speech for the occasion, thanked President Tshisekedi for his vision and commitment to the education and training of his country’s youth. “We thank President Félix Antoine, the initiator of PDL 145, who has just provided us with beautiful classrooms so that we can study in the right conditions,” he said with a smile. As a reminder, these buildings were constructed as part of the Development Project for 145 Territories, known as PDL 145 T, initiated by the head of state. This project aims for the comprehensive development of the DRC starting from the hinterland. In particular, its education component calls for the construction of thousands of schools to improve learning conditions for Congolese students. It thus reinforces the provision of free public primary education, a goal achieved by President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi four years later. Alain Kinanga & Deleine Diazolakana
