On Monday, October 2, DRC President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo inaugurated the first school built with sustainable materials in Kasomeno, in the province of Haut-Katanga. The school, known as EP Akili, was built through the 145 Territories Development Program (PDL 145). Head of State Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo personally welcomed the students who will benefit from this building into the classrooms. He urged these young Congolese to be diligent, before reiterating his commitment to restoring quality education. “You have a good country, a rich country, and you must take advantage of your country’s wealth. We will do everything we can to ensure that all young people, the children of the Congo, benefit from their country’s wealth… you must study under the right conditions,” declared the President of the Republic. Writing the phrase “May GOD bless you”—which went viral on social media—on one of the blackboards in this new school building, President Felix Tshisekedi urged the students to pray for the country’s leaders. It should be noted that the schools built as part of the 145 Territories Development Program are in line with the vision of the Head of State, who, having successfully implemented free primary education, is now making the quality of education his priority.
