On Monday, September 18, 2023, the schools in Tshibala and Bashi Ghalunga, Mboie sector, Kazumba territory, in the province of Kasaï Central, received a large shipment of desks and school supplies free of charge, donated by the Director-General of the Communication Management Directorate of the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (DGC-EPST), Jean Jeef Waz Wany Mwanza. On an official mission to this part of the country, the Director-General of the DGC explained that this gesture stems from his commitment to supporting the flagship initiative of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo’s five-year term. “This initiative is a call to support free primary education. On Monday, September 18, I distributed the desks, which were manufactured using our own funds, to several schools in Bashi Ghalunga in the Mboie sector to enable children in this part of the country to study under the best possible conditions,” he said. Earlier, Jean Jeef Mwanza spoke with parents, teachers, and students about the issue of free primary education. “I am here as an EPST official on a mission related to my sector. I am pleased today to announce the monumental work accomplished by our ministry, thanks to the leadership of Minister Tony Mwaba, who is implementing the vision of Head of State Félix Tshisekedi to ensure that free education is effectively implemented so that our children can study well. Today, more than 6 million children are enrolled in school and attending classes as usual. All that’s needed is to provide school supplies for the children; the government takes care of the rest,” he continued. On site, school principals, teachers, and community leaders did not hesitate to praise this message and gesture from DCS Mwanza. “We welcome this very compelling message; we have long been committed to free education, and we take this opportunity to reaffirm our support for the vision of the Head of State and Minister Tony Mwaba so that all our children may receive an education,” commented a parent. Beyond this gesture, the Director-General of the DGC-EPST also distributed free textbooks, a donation from the overseeing ministry to support free primary education in this region. During his visit, Jean Jeef Mwanza plans to conduct field visits to the educational districts of the Central Kasai administrative province to ensure the smooth start of the school year, with the aim of submitting a comprehensive and detailed report to his superiors upon his return to Kinshasa.
