On Friday, October 27, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, presented the roadmap for the implementation of school cafeterias, in accordance with the wishes expressed by the Head of State during the penultimate weekly Cabinet meeting. The head of the EPST stated that this National School Feeding Program will strengthen and ensure the long-term sustainability of free education in public primary schools. According to the terms of reference presented by the minister during the meeting chaired by President Tshisekedi, this project will be implemented gradually. The pilot phase of this project will cover five educational provinces in the city of Kinshasa, benefiting tens of thousands of people, including 6,480 students and 163 teachers from eleven selected schools. To select these pilot schools, the minister used the following criteria: schools in outlying areas, schools located in military or police camps, and schools with low enrollment. It should be noted that the National School Feeding Program aims to reduce dropout and attrition rates in order to improve student attendance and retention. Nodriche Kasaï
