Wednesday itinerance: Haut-Katanga 1 education authorities survey the resumption of classes in Kambove and Likasi
On Wednesday, January 10, education officials from Haut-Katanga 1 conducted a working visit to public and private schools in the sub-districts of Kambove, Likasi 1, and Likasi 2, located 150 km from the city of Lubumbashi.
This visit, part of the “Wednesday Outreach” initiative launched by the minister in charge, had two objectives. The first was to oversee the resumption of classes in all schools within the administrative province, specifically in the Lufira sector, at the Kapolowe Catholic Mission, and in the schools of Likasi. The second objective was to raise awareness among school principals regarding the sustainability of free public primary education, the improvement of educational quality, good governance, and strict adherence to all instructions.
Mr. Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend, Mr. Mpundu Futa, and Mr. Joël Kalumba—respectively Provincial Director, Acting Provincial Chief Inspector, and Provincial Director of the National Directorate for Oversight, Payroll Preparation, and Management of Teaching and Administrative Staff in Schools—along with their colleagues, all led by the three sub-provincial committees of the EPST, visited in turn the Lumière du Christ school complex, Bungu Bungu Primary School, Tufunde Primary School, Kapwanino Primary School, Ngoy Kongolo School, the Vyombo school complex, Mwanga Primary School, Mapinduzi Primary School, and the Kalunga Institute of Knowledge.
In all schools within the Kambove sub-division, provincial authorities observed a tentative resumption of classes. On site, the Lufira sector chief and the Catholic coordination officer were instructed to raise awareness among parents regarding the resumption of classes.
In Likasi, however, classes are proceeding normally, a sign of an effective resumption.
At the end of this tour, Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend gathered the members of the sub-provincial committees of Kambove, Likasi 1, and Likasi 2 to urge them to remain vigilant and present in the schools to ensure good governance.
