This workshop, organized by the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), received technical and financial support from the Association for the Promotion of Education and Training Abroad (APEFE). It was held on Monday, May 20, 2024, in the city of Lubumbashi, in the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province, by the provincial minister of education for Haut-Katanga, Chantal Kaleya Kilufya. The IFADEM/DRC coordinator, Nicolas Nyange Bizy, stated that the Congolese government has adopted a sectoral strategy for education and training, in line with its vision for education. This vision is to build an inclusive, high-quality education system that effectively contributes to national development, the promotion of peace, and active citizenship. According to him, this sectoral strategy for education and training is structured around three pillars: access, quality, and governance. He explains that improving the quality of education requires providing primary schools with textbooks, equipping other levels of education, and strengthening teachers’ skills at all levels. This workshop therefore aims to build the capacity of developers on the basic concepts of remote tutoring, using both print and digital materials. During this workshop, participants will develop the tutoring framework and tools tailored to the self-study booklets and the digital environment to be deployed. They will also develop a set of items to be used for formative and summative assessments, and prepare a guide and schedule for tutor training. National and international experts, as well as the designers of the IFADEM 2022–2026 workbooks, are participating in this six-day meeting. Ivan Honoré Mudiangombé
