In Kinshasa-Lukunga, provincial authorities are determined to ensure compliance with official directives related to the "National Campaign for Active Citizenship," launched by Raïssa Malu, Minister of State and Minister of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC). It is in this context that the Provincial Chief Inspector (IPP) Vital Lumbala and the Provincial Director (PROVED) Wivine Mude visited, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, several schools in their educational province, specifically in the Mont-Ngafula 3 subdivision, accompanied by the Chief Pool Inspector (INSPOOL) Gilbert Nzuzi.
The IPP and the PROVED began their tour at the Bozindo School Complex, passing through Lisiba High School and Reverend Gédéon Middle School, and concluding at Prince de la Paix Middle School in Mbudi. At each of these schools, they conveyed several messages, such as “saluting the flag” to instill in students a sense of respect for the common good, “love of country” to awaken a patriotic spirit, “the fight against anti-values” to eradicate bad practices, as well as “love of neighbor,” "peace," and "unity."
Everywhere they went, the students were very receptive and demonstrated to Vital Lumbala and Wivine Mude their support for this campaign by reciting the Citizen’s Oath in unison: "I swear to serve the Democratic Republic of the Congo in all circumstances, with fidelity and loyalty, to love and respect my fellow citizens, to protect the common good, and to promote national unity and brotherhood." This heightened awareness delighted the two provincial authorities of Kinshasa-Lukunga.
"The outcome is positive! We returned with satisfaction. We are taking steps to see how to strengthen conduct and how to foster a new Congolese spirit. We are determined to work on this because we want to change things," declared Vital Lumbala.
In particular, the IPP drew the attention of high school seniors to the upcoming certification exams. He called on these students to take control of their own futures by mastering all subjects taught in class, to avoid resorting to cheating during the exams.
Addressing the students in turn, PROVED Wivine Mude emphasized the importance of behaving with dignity, maintaining personal hygiene, and keeping the school environment clean. She also urged school principals to monitor sharp objects that students might carry in their bags, as these could injure their classmates intentionally or accidentally.
Through the National Active Citizenship Campaign, officials from the Ministry of EDU-NC are calling on all fellow citizens to recognize that: “Being Congolese is a responsibility, a daily commitment to uphold, through one’s actions, the image of the DRC, for the strength of a nation rests on the commitment of its citizens.”
