A training workshop for teachers and inspectors of technical programs undergoing reform was launched on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Lisala, the capital of Mongala Province in the northwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This six-day session is for teachers in the Mongala 1 educational province and is part of the reform of technical and vocational education.

Speaking at the event, Mongala 1 Provincial Director Jean-Claude Kilonga noted that this initiative aims to strengthen teaching skills and improve the quality of student guidance, which should contribute to the development of the province and the country.

For her part, the provincial chief inspector, Françoise Mombo, explained that these efforts are part of the implementation of the technical and vocational education reform.

The reform calls for the modernization of curricula in three priority sectors: agriculture, mining and extractive industries, and construction and public works (BTP), along with four related industrial fields.

According to the Mongala 1 Provincial Institute of Professional Training (IPP), the training is based on updated standards and professional profiles aligned with the demands of the job market. New curricula have thus been developed by the national technical directorates, with the support of experts and consultants, to train competent and operational A2-level technicians.

The innovations introduced focus on pedagogical approaches and teaching strategies, with the aim of improving academic performance.

“A technical school must be a link in the industrial production chain. Disconnected from the professional world, it cannot contribute effectively to socio-economic development,” emphasized Françoise Mombo.

Representing the provincial governor, the provincial Minister of the Environment urged participants to demonstrate diligence and to fully engage with the course content.

This training comes a few days after a session for English teachers on organizing the oral portion of the 2026 State Exam.
