Raïssa Malu, Minister of State and Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, officially inaugurated the new audiovisual production studio of Radio Télévision de l’Éducation (RT EDUC) on Thursday, April 2, 2026. This ceremony marks an important milestone in strengthening educational communication tools in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Completely renovated, this production studio aims to improve the quality of educational content broadcast on RT EDUC’s various channels. It is part of the drive to modernize the Congolese education system initiated by the current minister, particularly through the increased integration of information and communication technologies into teaching.

In addition to the studio, the minister also inaugurated the “Garden of Education,” a symbolic space dedicated to promoting educational and civic values. This space is intended to be a place for learning, raising awareness, and discussion regarding issues related to the education and training of young people.

In the same vein, a news van was handed over to RT EDUC’s field teams. This logistical tool will strengthen media coverage of educational activities across the country and facilitate content production in the field.

Taking the floor, RT EDUC’s Director and Head of Department, Mr. Guy Shungu, provided an overview of the achievements and challenges encountered since he took the helm of this department. He called on Minister of State Raïssa Malu for increased support to continue innovations, particularly through an increase in operating funds.

“An important step has been taken, but much remains to be done. Many challenges still lie ahead: the first, and undoubtedly the most urgent, remains the renewal of production equipment as well as other equipment essential for modern audiovisual production, adapted to current technological requirements. Next, there is the development of strategic partnerships with other educational media outlets around the world, the strengthening of the technical capacities of RT EDUC staff and managers, and the expansion of the network through new provincial stations as well as the enhancement of the operational capacities of existing stations,” emphasized the DCS.

Furthermore, he also requested a specific bonus for staff in the departments responsible for the ministry’s communications, specifically referring to RTEDUC and the MINEDUNC’s Communication Management Department.

Present at the ceremony, the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, commended the work carried out by the department, while emphasizing that this upgrade of the studio must be accompanied by a renewed commitment to improving the quality of educational programming content.

It is worth noting that through these initiatives, the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship reaffirms its commitment to modernizing educational infrastructure and promoting quality education that is accessible and adapted to the challenges of the digital age.
