The initiative by the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, aimed at ensuring access to education for indigenous peoples (Pygmies), has been welcomed by the NGO Young Men Action for Education (YMAE). In a statement released on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the organization highlighted the importance of this directive in promoting inclusive education. Indeed, YMAE Secretary-General Serge Bondedi stated that this measure follows previous efforts, notably the “École eza mombongo te” campaign and an assessment mission on the educational rights of vulnerable groups conducted in July 2024 in Tshuapa Province. These initiatives have helped advance the recognition of the rights of marginalized populations. "This directive demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to education free from discrimination," stated Serge Bondedi, before calling on all relevant stakeholders to ensure the implementation of this policy by establishing monitoring mechanisms to guarantee its effectiveness and adaptability over time. The organization also reaffirms its determination to protect and promote the right to education for all, particularly for vulnerable populations. It positions itself as a key player in this effort to ensure that policy advances translate into tangible results for Congolese students. It is important to note that this initiative, taken by Minister of State Raïssa Malu, falls within the framework of the 2024–2029 Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC), specifically Point 4, which aims to promote equity and inclusion in order to ensure equitable access to education for all, without discrimination, by implementing specific measures for vulnerable groups; ; Thierry Mbebangu
