EXETAT 2024: no major incidents to report in North Kivu

The 2024 State Exam concluded on Thursday, June 27, across the entire country, with an overall positive outcome despite a few security incidents reported in North Kivu.

According to Luc Gbaweza, Provincial Director (PROVED) of the North Kivu 1 educational province, the exams proceeded calmly in most testing centers. He praised the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi for covering all costs associated with participation in the State Exam, as well as the provincial government’s support in ensuring the success of these assessments.

A total of 19,054 candidates, including 9,757 girls (51.1%), took the State Exam at 63 centers, notably in Kibumba, Kibirizi, and Kabasha—locations relocated due to insecurity caused by the Rwandan aggression in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Another center was operational in Kigali, at the consulate of the DRC embassy.

At testing centers in the Rutshuru territory, graduating students took the exams in a tense atmosphere following explosions that killed one person and seriously injured two others in Kirumba.

Provincial authorities reassured parents that no candidates were harmed by the explosions and congratulated the seniors for their participation in the four-day State Exam.

PROVED Luc Gbaweza thanked all those involved in organizing the exams, including center directors, teachers, proctors, law enforcement, and parents. He also encouraged the candidates to continue their studies with determination and perseverance.
