In the Tshopo 2 educational province, 9,694 candidates, including 2,850 girls and 6,844 boys, are taking the out-of-session exams for the State Examination, notably the Essay, which began this Monday, June 2, 2025, in Kinshasa, with the opening ceremony presided over by the Minister of State, Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, Raïssa Malu, for the 2024–2025 school year. In his speech to the high school seniors, Mokito Gaunda Kysta Séraphin, director of the Tshopo 2 Educational Province (Proved), noted that this exam is important for assessing the skills acquired over several years of study and serves as a gateway to new horizons—including academic life—for those wishing to pursue higher education.
“We are convinced that instruction has been delivered as usual and that the curriculum has been followed under the supervision of teachers and inspectors, to whom we extend our congratulations. To the graduating students, today’s exam opens the door to all the others that will follow shortly and allows evaluators to assess your level of progress and mastery of the related subjects, particularly vocabulary, grammar, and analysis. Later, you will be called upon to assume high-level positions; the experience of independent work gained at school will help you fulfill your responsibilities with dignity. “So banish the demon of cheating,” declared the Proved.
Candidates should rely on the lessons taught by their teachers and their own personal review. Schools have organized support sessions to help them become familiar with the exam’s expectations and master writing techniques. For his part, Provincial Chief Inspector (PPI) Mawanga Kumankanda Georges noted that candidates are distributed across 37 testing centers spread throughout the four territories of the educational province. Currently, the province offers 18 options, including two for the vocational track and 16 for the academic track. It is important to emphasize that this essay period is a pivotal moment for graduating students. The outcome of this exam will determine not only their transition to higher education, pending the actual State Exam, but also their professional future in a country undergoing rapid change. All eyes are now on these young people, who embody hope and promise for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Célestin Zeula
