On Friday, September 12, officials from the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province visited the recently renovated Kamalondo 2 Elementary School, located in the city of Lubumbashi. On site, Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend, director of the educational province, accompanied by the provincial chief inspector and the Diprocope, expressed satisfaction with this initiative, which will enable students to learn in better conditions, in a context where primary education is free. The school building, with its eight classrooms and an administrative office, has been completely modernized, notably with a new metal roof, renovated restrooms and urinals, 29 new desks in each classroom—for a total of 232 desks for students—as well as new blackboards in all classrooms to facilitate learning and teaching. The work was funded by the rector of the Protestant University of Lubumbashi, who was approached by Proved. The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), through the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (Edu-Nc), is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming educational environment for all students, regardless of their gender, social background, geographic location, or physical and intellectual abilities. To this end, it has implemented a five-year plan whose fourth guiding principle advocates for this inclusion, notably by improving learning conditions in schools. Bruno Nsaka
