During an official visit to Haut-Katanga Province, the Deputy Minister of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC), Théodore Kazadi Muayila, strongly condemned the growing political manipulation and the spread of anti-values in schools. During a meeting with education officials, the deputy minister reiterated that schools must under no circumstances become a battleground for political or religious rivalries.
“Conflicts between political parties or religious denominations have no place in a space intended for education, civic training, and the moral development of youth,” stated the EDU-NC Deputy Minister.
Théodore Kazadi Muayila also warned all individuals or groups seeking to disrupt or undermine the policy of free public primary education, one of the major reforms of Head of State Félix Tshisekedi. Those who support practices contrary to this measure, the deputy minister emphasized, place themselves “on the same level as those committing crimes in the eastern part of the country”—very serious abuses with grave consequences for the future of Congolese children. While visiting Haut-Katanga Province, the deputy minister conducted an inspection tour in the territory of Kipushi, where he visited several schools. The goal: to personally assess learning conditions, evaluate the schools’ needs, and encourage local teachers. During this visit, Théodore Kazadi Muayila made a point of conveying a message of comfort and encouragement to teachers as well as educational partners. Ouriel Mangitukwa
