“During the last episcopal assembly of the CENCO bishops, His Excellency, the president of the Episcopal Commission for Education, accompanied by the general secretariat, was asked to pay a courtesy call on the Minister of State responsible for education and to share with her the educational challenges as perceived by CENCO, along with some recommendations. “This has been done,” Bishop Donatien Nshole told the press upon leaving the meeting.Satisfied with the meeting, Bishop Donatien Nshole assured that the Catholic Church will continue to work in synergy with the ministry, as before.
“We were well received; we admired the clarity of the Minister of Education and also her humility, because in response to the various challenges, she said that work had already begun before her tenure and continues to be done—that is humility,” he said. Also discussed during this meeting were issues regarding the digitization of teacher payroll and women’s participation in the Congolese education system.
“The Minister made a recommendation that is close to her heart regarding teachers’ pay; she is considering how to digitize education administratively, particularly regarding teachers’ pay. She also recommended making an effort to increase women’s participation in the education system, notably by recruiting more women than before,” revealed the CENCO spokesperson. It should be noted that the Deputy Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, Jean Pierre Kezamudru, also took part in this meeting.
