A total of 32 schools from the capital, Kinshasa, participated in this “Génie en herbe” interscholastic competition, which concluded on Monday, May 20, 2024, with a victory for Collège Bonsomi of Ndjili. Collège Bonsomi was crowned champion of Kinshasa following the grand finale held in the auditorium of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Cultural Center, where it faced off against Collège Aligba. "I am very moved by this victory we have just achieved. I encourage my fellow students to participate in competitions like this because it helps us grow intellectually," said Miriam Bashinga Kabuanga, a fourth-year science student at Collège Bonsomi. It should be noted that the teachers were key contributors to this victory. They guided the students in their learning and supported them from the start of the competition. “I am proud of our students because they lived up to the training we provided them, and we will continue to educate them with excellence. The Young Scientists Competition has a positive impact because it teaches students to speak in front of an audience without fear or embarrassment, and this stimulates them scientifically," emphasized Ms. Julie Baloki, a history teacher for the first and fourth grades at Bonsomi Middle School. As a reminder, since February 2024, various schools in the capital have been competing in this budding genius competition through various challenges such as general knowledge, brain teasers, mental arithmetic, and more. Métouschelah organized these competitions with the aim of fostering the development of young people, having been a budding genius himself when he was a student, noted the coordinator of this sixth edition of Budding Genius in his closing remarks at the end of the competition. Collège Frère Alingba took second place, while Lycée Motema Mpiko took third place in this competition, which brought together 32 schools. Nodriche Kasai and Jodina Chungu
