In Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, high school seniors have been prohibited from organizing celebratory gatherings following the conclusion of the regular session of the State Exam on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Those who disobey will be apprehended by members of the Congolese National Police (PNC), according to a statement from law enforcement. “It is strictly forbidden for high school seniors to demonstrate this Thursday, June 27, 2024. No students in uniform are allowed on terraces, in bars, or at drinking establishments. I urge final-year students in Kinshasa to remain patient, as results are not yet available following the conclusion of the regular session of the State Exam,” warned Provincial Chief Commissioner and Commander of the PNC/Kinshasa, Blaise Kilimbalimba. To this end, law enforcement officers have been instructed to subdue anyone engaging in such acts or causing disturbances. This measure aims to contain scenes of jubilation, which have escalated into disturbances and public disorder during previous editions of the State Exam. Beginning on Monday, June 24, the national certification exams will conclude this Thursday, June 27, throughout the entire country. Willy Kambulu
