The 2024 Primary School Graduation Exam (Enafep) concluded on Tuesday, June 4, across the entire territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, participants reported that the exams went smoothly. “The exam wasn’t difficult, especially since it included multiple-choice questions. We took it calmly, following the advice of our teachers at school, who told us not to panic but to work calmly to succeed,” said Shalom Manzambi, a test-taker and student at Saint Montfort Middle School, in an interview with the DGC. Things weren’t so easy, however, for Merdi Matondo, a student at Amour et Liberté. “Despite some challenges we faced at the testing center, we took this national exam and hope to pass,” he said. Tshimanga Symphorien, from the Institut de la Gombe, and Kaja Kabaya Miracle, from the Athénée de la Gombe, also expressed their satisfaction after taking the exam. “We had more than 25 questions for the French and general knowledge sections; that was a lot. I answered all the questions and I hope my classmates did the same. (…) I was afraid of the exam. But since I had prepared well for these tests by reviewing my class notes since the beginning of the year to avoid mistakes, I was able to answer all my questions, because they were based on lessons covered in school,” they explained. In Kinshasa, 227,479 registered candidates, including 116,419 girls, took part in these exams. This positive feedback from the students reflects the effective organization of these exams by the Ministry of National Education, whose instructions were scrupulously followed by all directors of educational provinces across the country.
