On behalf of the acting governor of the administrative province of Kwilu, the mayor of the city of Kikwit closed the Forum on the Implementation of the 2016–2025 Sectoral Strategy for Education and Training (SSEF), as well as the 2024–2029 Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC). This three-day meeting, held from Monday, January 20, to Wednesday, January 22, 2025, was organized by the Provincial Director (PROVED) of Kwilu 2, Jean-Pierre Yoy Bokete, with the aim of engaging education stakeholders in a new, results-oriented approach to work.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Kikwit noted that during the proceedings, participants revisited the key pillars of the SSEF, assessed the successes already achieved, and identified the challenges that remain. He emphasized that this forum also enabled education stakeholders in the Kwilu 2 educational province to look toward the future with a clear vision and renewed commitments.
"I would like to commend the contributions of our experts, as well as the lively discussions that took place during this forum. Your insightful analyses and recommendations are essential for guiding the next steps in our approach. I take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of collaboration within the sector, given the partnership established to achieve the set objectives," he stated.
For the Mayor of the city, the reflections and decisions made during the proceedings will guide future actions and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Congolese education system. He encouraged all stakeholders to continue the dialogue, strengthen synergy, and mobilize all necessary resources to ensure quality education accessible to all.
The provincial authority also paid a heartfelt tribute to President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, who has placed education at the heart of national priorities, as well as for his vision and commitment to the Republic.
At the conclusion of his speech, the Mayor of the city proceeded to establish the Provincial Technical Committee for Monitoring the Ministry’s Five-Year Plan, a move that met with the approval of the PROVED of Kwilu 2.
"The head of the provincial executive has agreed to support us alongside his government. He has already signed the decree establishing a provincial technical committee to monitor the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship’s 2024–2029 Five-Year Plan. What we planned, we have accomplished, and we have achieved the results. We are very pleased to have achieved the assigned objectives," said Jean-Pierre Yoy Bokete, before adding: "We are equipped with vital information. Today, we are in a position to meet the challenges of improving the quality of education in our Kwilu 2 educational province."
The PROVED is counting on the involvement of all educational stakeholders within its jurisdiction to maintain social peace, in order to foster a positive working environment.
Satisfaction was also evident among the participants, who congratulated the Kwilu 2 PROVED and its provincial team for the scientific and professional work they have accomplished. They expressed the hope that this type of forum would be organized frequently to address the major challenges facing the sub-sector.
