In the run-up to the start of the 2024–2025 school year, the director of the North Kivu 1 educational province has issued guidelines for all stakeholders in the education subsector operating within his jurisdiction.
In a memo dated Wednesday, August 7, Luc Gbaweza Kabango formally prohibits the requirement to purchase school uniforms bearing a logo or emblem, as well as any other standard items offered by schools.
The North Kivu 1 Educational Provincial Directorate also prohibits expelling students for non-payment of school fees or for lack of a uniform, or even detaining them, for any reason whatsoever. “The school must maintain constant communication with the student’s parent or guardian regarding this matter,” the memo states.
In addition, the Annual Performance Review (RAP)—a meeting to evaluate the past school year and prepare for the next—concluded in this educational province on the same Wednesday.
Participants in these proceedings commended Proved Luc Gbaweza’s commitment to quality education.
Attention is now turning to the start of the 2024–2025 school year, set for September 2.
